The effigy is rendered in high relief in a medieval portrait style. Two heraldic shields flank the bust: to the left, the Imperial eagle of Bohemia, and to the right, the lion of Luxembourg. Surrounding this central motif, arranged around the field, are twelve individual heraldic shields corresponding to the twelve EC member nations, each rendered in fine detail. The fineness mark 999 appears in the lower exergue area below the central circle. |
