| Obverse description | Facing bust of Charles IV, Count of Luxembourg (1316–1378), depicted in medieval royal regalia with a crown surmounted by a cross, wearing a draped mantle with a jewelled clasp at the neckline. The effigy is rendered in high relief in a medieval portrait style. Two heraldic shields flank the bust: to the left, the Imperial eagle of Bohemia, and to the right, the lion of Luxembourg. The curved legend around the upper field reads CHARLES IV. ∙ 1316-1378 COMTE DE LUXEMBOURG. |
