Reverse description Full equestrian figure of Charlemagne in profile to the left, depicted in medieval royal attire including a crown and long robes, mounted on a walking horse rendered in low to medium relief. The composition references the famous Carolingian equestrian statuette. The legend 'CHARLE MAGNE' is divided across the upper field, flanked by two dot stops. The dates '747' appear vertically on the left and '814' on the right, denoting the traditionally cited birth and death years of the Frankish emperor.
