| 背面描述 | Central field features the bold raised inscription 'ECU DE BERGERAC' arranged in three lines, surrounded by a ring of twelve five-pointed stars referencing the European Community emblem. The surrounding legend along the upper arc reads 'LES COMMERÇANTS BERGERACOIS' in raised Latin lettering. A decorative foliate or branch motif appears at the base of the inner circle. The entire design is contained within a beaded border. The reverse was engraved by Jean Louis Leclair. |

Bergerac's merchant association launched this local ecu in 1993 as part of a broader wave of French regional scrip currencies that briefly flourished in the early 1990s, timed deliberately to coincide with the Maastricht Treaty debates and a palpable unease about surrendering the franc to a supranational currency. Dozens of French towns issued similar pieces, but most circulated for only a season or two before the schemes quietly collapsed.
Aluminium bronze was the material of choice across most of these issues — cheap, durable, and visually passable as real coinage.
