| 表面の説明 | Central field features a stylized shield bearing the raised inscription 'ECU' in block lettering, surmounted by a royal crown with cross finial, rendered in high relief. The circular legend 'KONINKRIJK DER NEDERLANDEN' runs along the upper periphery. The date '1993' appears prominently in the lower field, flanked by two small dots, with the fineness mark '999' incused just above at center-bottom. The overall design reflects a bold, modernist heraldic style consistent with late 20th-century Dutch commemorative coinage. |

| 裏面の説明 | The reverse bears three conjoined effigies of the Dutch queens of the twentieth century arranged in left-facing profile: Wilhelmina (reigned 1890–1948), Juliana (reigned 1948–1980), and Beatrix (reigned 1980–2013), presented in overlapping busts in the neoclassical tradition. The names 'WILHELMINA', 'JULIANA', and 'BEATRIX' are inscribed within or adjacent to the design, identifying each sovereign. The composition commemorates the dynastic continuity of the House of Orange-Nassau through three successive queens regnant. |

The Dutch ECU series was issued as the Netherlands navigated the final years before euro adoption, with these collector pieces functioning outside legal tender status — struck for the numismatic market rather than circulation. The 1993 Beatrix issue appeared the same year the Maastricht Treaty formally entered into force, which gave the ECU its brief moment of political relevance before the currency unit was eventually superseded by the euro at a fixed 1:1 rate in 1999.
The .999 fineness is notably purer than the standard .925 used for most Dutch silver coinage of the period.
