Obverse description Half-length effigy of Władysław IV Vasa facing right, crowned and armoured, holding an upright sword over his right shoulder and grasping an orb surmounted by a cross in his left hand. The king is depicted in elaborately engraved plate armour with a gorget and pauldrons rendered in fine detail. A circular Latin legend surrounds the effigy within a beaded border, reading VLADIS IIII D G REX POL ET SVE &c M D LIT RVS P, proclaiming his royal and grand ducal titles. The portrait is executed in a high-relief Baroque style characteristic of the Toruń mint's finest workmanship.

Reverse description Central field displays the crowned arms of Toruń — a walled city gate with three towers set within an oval cartouche — supported on either side by the outspread wings of an angel, whose bust rises above the shield as a crest. The date 16-37 is divided to the left and right of the shield, with the mintmaster's initials I-I flanking the base. A circular Latin legend within a beaded border reads MONETA NOVA ARGENT CIVIT THORVNENSIS, identifying the piece as a new silver coin of the city of Toruń. The composition is rendered in bold Baroque relief with meticulous detail in the architectural elements of the city arms.
