Elbląg's mint operated under unusual circumstances throughout the mid-seventeenth century — the city functioned as a Swedish-held enclave within Polish territory for much of this period, and its minting rights were a recurring point of diplomatic friction. By 1651, Jan II Kazimierz had reasserted enough political control to issue coinage from the mint in his own name, making pieces from this transitional window relatively uncommon against the broader talar output of the Commonwealth.
Kop. 7134 is among the scarcer Elbląg talar references in Kopicki's catalog, with surviving examples appearing infrequently at Polish auction houses even in circulated grades.
