Reverse description The arms of the City of Gdańsk displayed at center: an oval shield bearing two crosses beneath a royal crown, supported on either side by two rampant lions facing inward, all set within an elaborate wreath or rope border. Above the shield, the city's crest is surmounted by a crowned eagle displayed. Mint-master initials D·L appear below the shield in the lower field. The date 1658 appears in the upper left field, flanked by the legend. The encircling Latin legend MON·AUREA·CIVITATIS·GEDANENSIS·1658· (Golden coin of the City of Gdańsk) runs along the full circumference within a beaded border, attesting to the civic pride of this important Royal Prussian port city.
