Beschrijving voorzijde The obverse field is entirely occupied by a six-line commemorative inscription in Roman capitals referencing Augustus II's coronation as King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania, with the date 15 September 1697 expressed as D·15·SEPT·A°·1697·. Above the inscription, a crowned Saxon electoral shield flanked by decorative mantling is prominently displayed. The circular legend REGET ET – DEFENDET surrounds the upper arc of the coin. The composition is purely epigraphic in character, with no portrait, the lettering executed in a bold relief consistent with the Baroque engraving style of the Dresden Mint.

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse presents a dynamic equestrian figure of Augustus II depicted as a Roman imperator, mounted on a rearing horse facing left across a grassy ground line. The king wears full antique armour with a plumed helmet and a billowing cloak, and brandishes a flaming torch or baton in his raised right hand. The horse is rendered with great naturalistic vigour, its mane and tail flowing dramatically. The entire design occupies the field without a surrounding legend, executed in high relief in the exuberant Baroque manner characteristic of the Dresden Mint under Elector-King Augustus the Strong.
