| 背面描述 | The Pahonia (Pogoń) of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania: an armoured knight on horseback galloping to the right, brandishing a sword raised above his head and bearing a shield on his left arm. Below the horse, the Wadwicz coat of arms (a double cross) flanked by two six-pointed stars, serving as the mintmaster's mark. The composition fills the entire field of the small, irregularly shaped flan. |

The Lithuanian denar occupied the lowest rung of the Commonwealth's silver coinage and was struck almost continuously under Sigismund III to meet demand for small change in a monetary system chronically short of petty denominations. Vilnius output across these decades was substantial but quality control was inconsistent — the tiny flans were notoriously difficult to feed through the screw press, and off-center strikes are the rule rather than the exception. Kopicki's five separate references across this range reflect genuine die variation, not collector hair-splitting.
