| Beschrijving keerzijde | Plain field with the mint abbreviation, date, and denomination presented within a bold arch-topped cartouche placed in the upper central area of the flan. The cartouche displays GNA at the top (abbreviation for Gerona), the date 1808 in the middle, and UN DURO at the base within a rectangular tablet, all in raised capital letters. The surrounding field is plain and unadorned, enclosed by a reeded border consistent with the obverse, reflecting the utilitarian nature of this wartime emergency issue. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Gerona's duro was struck under emergency authority during the French siege of 1808, one of the most brutal urban sieges of the Peninsular War. The city held out through two separate sieges — the coin predates the catastrophic second siege of 1809, during which roughly a third of the population died from combat, disease, and starvation. Local silver was commandeered and minted hastily to pay defenders, giving these pieces the rough, uneven fabric characteristic of crisis coinage produced without adequate equipment or time.
