Vespasian's revival of the Vesta cult on Roman coinage was deliberate political rehabilitation — the goddess had been conspicuously neglected under Nero, and restoring her prominence signaled a return to traditional Roman pietas after the chaos of 68–69 AD. The issue falls within a concentrated period of Vespasianic dupondii that used the Senate's SC authority to flood the bronze market and stabilize small-denomination commerce following the civil war's economic disruption.
