| Descrizione del dritto | Radiate head of Vespasian facing right, rendered in bold high relief with characteristic portraiture of the Flavian dynasty. A small globe is placed at the base of the neck truncation, a distinctive feature of Vespasianic dupondii. The effigy displays the emperor's aged features with a strong, naturalistic treatment typical of Roman imperial coinage of the period. The surrounding circular legend is incuse in Latin, bordered by a beaded inner rim. |

She holds aloft in her right hand a large oval shield inscribed with the letters S P Q R (Senatus Populusque Romanus), a propagandistic reference to the authority of the Roman senate and people. The composition is set within a plain field, with the senatorial authorisation mark S C (Senatus Consultum) flanking the figure in the left and right fields respectively. The reverse type alludes to Vespasian's military victories and the legitimacy conferred by senatorial decree. |
