| Beschrijving voorzijde | Radiate bust of Vespasian facing left, with a small globe placed at the point of truncation of the neck, a convention denoting imperial authority over the world. The emperor's portrait is rendered in the robust, realistic style characteristic of Flavian portraiture, with strongly modeled facial features. The radiate crown, composed of pointed rays, identifies the denomination as a dupondius within the Augustan monetary system. The encircling legend is incuse in Latin capital letters, interrupted by the bust. The field is flat and largely unadorned. |
