Obverse description Radiate bust of Vespasian facing right, depicted with a draped and cuirassed shoulder, wearing the distinctive solar crown of spiked rays that identifies the dupondius denomination. The emperor's effigy is rendered in a bold, realistic style characteristic of Flavian portraiture, with strongly modeled facial features including a prominent brow, aquiline nose, and square jaw. The circular legend runs along the beaded border surrounding the bust, interrupted at the base.
