背面描述 Central type composed of a caduceus placed vertically between two large crossed cornucopiae, the horns of plenty filled with fruits and foliage, symbolising prosperity and imperial abundance. The caduceus, winged staff of Mercury, rises prominently between the cornucopiae, its wings and serpents clearly rendered. The surrounding legend PON MAX TR POT P P COS V CENS runs around the periphery within a beaded border, referencing Vespasian's five consulships and censorship dated to AD 74.

附加信息

Vespasian's fifth consulship and simultaneous censorship in 73–74 AD mark a deliberate reassertion of Republican constitutional forms after the chaos of 69 AD. The censorship in particular — the first held since 70 BC under Sulla's reforms had effectively killed the office — allowed Vespasian and Titus to purge the Senate, revise the citizen rolls, and reorder the finances of an empire badly disrupted by civil war and the costs of the Jewish campaign.

The CENS legend on this issue is relatively short-lived in the coinage, appearing only while the censorship was active.
