Obverse description Laureate bust of Vespasian facing right, depicted with characteristic strong, aged features and a short beard, the portrait rendered in a naturalistic Republican-influenced style. The emperor is shown draped at the shoulder, with the laurel wreath of imperium clearly defined. The encircling legend IMP CAESAR VESPASIANVS AVG runs clockwise around the periphery within a beaded border.

Reverse description Central type composed of a caduceus placed vertically between two large crossed cornucopiae, the horns of plenty filled with fruits and foliage, symbolising prosperity and imperial abundance. The caduceus, winged staff of Mercury, rises prominently between the cornucopiae, its wings and serpents clearly rendered. The surrounding legend PON MAX TR POT P P COS V CENS runs around the periphery within a beaded border, referencing Vespasian's five consulships and censorship dated to AD 74.
