Obverse description Radiate head of Vespasian facing left, portrayed with characteristic realistic physiognomy typical of Flavian portraiture — a broad, furrowed brow, strong jaw, and short-cropped hair rendered in fine engraved lines. The emperor wears a radiate crown, the points of which are clearly visible rising above the head. A draped paludamentum is visible at the truncation of the bust. The encircling Latin legend reads IMP CAESAR VESPASIAN AVG COS IIII, distributed around the full circumference of the obverse field.
