| Beschrijving keerzijde | Ceres, the goddess of grain and agriculture, is depicted seated left on a throne, draped in flowing robes, holding stalks of grain in her right hand and a torch in her left hand — her classical attributes as patron of the harvest. The large senatorial control marks S and C (Senatus Consultum) are prominently placed to either side of the central figure, affirming the Senate's authority over bronze coinage. The encircling legend CERES AVGVSTA is distributed around the upper and lower field. The composition is executed in the formal, classicising style characteristic of the Flavian Rome mint. |
