| Obverse description | Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Trajan facing right, rendered in bold high relief characteristic of the Trajanic period. The radiate crown, indicative of the dupondius denomination, crowns the emperor's head, while the paludamentum is visible over the cuirass at the shoulder. She holds a bundle of cinnamon sticks or spice branches in her extended left hand and a long transverse sceptre or rod in her right hand; at her feet to the left crouches a small camel, the emblematic animal of the province. The senatorial mark S C (Senatus Consultum) appears in the field to either side of the central figure. The legend S P Q R OPTIMO PRINCIPI runs along the upper periphery, with ARAB ADQVIS in the exergue below, all within a beaded border. |
