| Description du revers | A Roman military cuirass (lorica) set upright and facing the viewer, richly ornamented with decorative relief work including pteruges (leather strips) hanging below the breastplate and shoulder guards visible at the top. The armor is presented as a trophy-like symbol of Roman martial power, centered in the field. The senatorial authority mark S C (Senatus Consultum) is placed symmetrically on either side of the cuirass in the mid-field. The reverse legend S P Q R OPTIMO PRINCIPI runs around the periphery, honoring Trajan as the best of princes by decree of the Senate and Roman people. |
