| Reverse description | The personification of Securitas, the goddess of security and imperial safety, seated facing left upon a throne or chair set upon a raised platform or steps. She rests her head upon her right hand in a pose of serene repose, her left arm extended or resting at her side, rendered in draped attire with folds visible in the field. A lighted altar or brazier appears to the left of the figure, consistent with standard Flavian reverse iconography for this type. The legend SECVRITAS AVGVSTI is disposed in the upper field, with the senatorial authority mark S C flanking the central type in the lower field. The overall composition reflects the Flavian imperial programme of projecting stability and security through official bronze coinage. |
