Titus ruled for just over two years — long enough to see Vesuvius bury Pompeii and Herculaneum in August 79 AD, a devastating fire tear through Rome in 80 AD, and a plague strike shortly after. The SECVRITAS type belongs squarely to this period of serial catastrophe, functioning as an official assertion of stability that reality was actively contradicting.
RIC II.1 207 is among the more routinely encountered Titus dupondii, but the brevity of his reign keeps absolute numbers modest.
