This piece dates to 72 AD, the year Vespasian and Titus held a joint triumph celebrating the sack of Jerusalem and the destruction of the Second Temple — one of the most politically loaded victories the Flavian dynasty would ever exploit on coinage. The ROMA VICTRIX type belongs to a broader Flavian program of issues directly tied to the Judaean campaign, through which Vespasian legitimized a dynasty that had seized power through civil war rather than hereditary right.
