She holds a patera in her extended right hand and a long vertical sceptre in her left, emblems of divine or quasi-divine honour. The figure is depicted in a static, hieratic pose consistent with the iconography of imperial women on provincial bronze coinage of the Tiberian period. The surrounding Latin legend, distributed around the periphery of the flan, records the names and titles of the presiding Roman and local magistrates of the Municipium of Utica. |
