| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse is dominated by the large senatorial authorisation monogram S·C (Senatus Consultum) in bold, deeply struck relief at the centre of the field, the two letters flanking a central dot. Encircling the central device, the moneyer's titulature T·CRISPINVS·IIIVIR·A·A·A·F·F runs continuously around the field from lower left to lower right, identifying the issuing magistrate Titus Quinctius Crispinus Sulpicianus in his capacity as one of the tresviri monetales. The legend is rendered in clear, well-spaced capitals of standard Augustan epigraphic style. A beaded border frames the design at the coin's periphery. This reverse format is wholly consistent with the standard senatorial aes coinage of the Augustan monetary reform, in which the S·C mark explicitly attributes the issue of base-metal currency to senatorial authority. |
