| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse presents a figural scene of imperial beneficence in which the togated emperor Hadrian stands facing left, extending his right hand to raise the kneeling personification of Sicily (Sicilia) from the ground. Hadrian holds a scroll in his left hand, symbolizing his acts of restoration and administration. The figure of Sicilia is depicted wearing a distinctive triskeles headdress — the three-legged emblem emblematic of the island — and holds ears of corn in allusion to Sicily's celebrated agricultural fertility. The senatorial authorization mark S C (Senatus Consultum) appears in the field, flanking the figures. The composition belongs to the celebrated 'Restitutori' series issued under Hadrian commemorating his journeys and benefactions throughout the provinces. |

The "Restitutori" series was issued during Hadrian's extensive tour of the provinces, a journey that occupied much of his reign and was unprecedented in scale for a sitting emperor. Sicily warranted inclusion not for military relevance but as a grain-producing province with deep Greek cultural roots — Hadrian was conspicuously philhellenic, and the restoration rhetoric of these coins carried ideological weight beyond the administrative. The series spans roughly a dozen provinces and client kingdoms, each receiving its own reversal type within the same emission.
Sicily-type pieces are among the scarcer provincial attributions within the Restitutori group.
