(Translation: Hadrianus Augustus. Hadrian, emperor (Augustus).)
Reverse description A Roman war galley (navis longa) sailing left, depicted in fine detail with a row of oarsmen visible above the hull, a steering oar at the stern, and a decorated prow featuring a figurehead — identified in RIC as Minerva Promachus, a Triton, or Pegasus. The oars and hull strakes are rendered with careful engraving, conveying the vessel's speed and power. The legend FELICITATI AVG is partially visible in the upper field, with the remainder of the inscription distributed around the reverse. The exergue bears the letters S C (Senatus Consultum), authorizing the bronze issue. The type celebrates the felicitas — the auspicious fortune — of the emperor, likely referencing Hadrian's celebrated maritime travels.
