Reverse description A Roman galley (navis) depicted in left profile, rendered in considerable detail, with a decorated stern curving upward at the right, a figurehead at the prow, oars projecting below the hull, and several figures visible standing or seated amidships. The hull is shown with a ram at the waterline and striped planking below the oar-bank. The scene celebrates the felicitas — the auspicious fortune — of the emperor, possibly referencing his celebrated sea voyages. The legend is distributed around the upper field and across the lower exergual area, all within a beaded border.
