| Obverse description | Bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust of Hadrian facing left, rendered in high relief with finely detailed curly hair and short beard characteristic of Hadrianic portraiture. The emperor is depicted with a naturalistic, slightly idealised effigy, his paludamentum (military cloak) visible over the cuirass at the truncation. The circular legend is inscribed between the bust and a beaded border that runs along the coin's inner rim. The overall style reflects the refined Greco-Roman classicism favoured during Hadrian's reign. |
