She extends her right hand to pour a libation from a patera, while her left hand holds a long vertical sceptre resting at her side. The large senatorial mark of value letters S and C (Senatus Consultum) are prominently placed in the left and right fields respectively, flanking the central figure. The surrounding legend COS III P P CLEMENTIA AVG is distributed around the periphery within a beaded border. The composition is characteristic of Hadrianic imperial reverse types celebrating the virtues of the emperor. |
