The senatorial mark of authority, S C (Senatus Consultum), is prominently placed in the lower field to either side of the figure. The peripheral legend encircles the design, referencing Hadrian's third consulship and the title Pater Patriae. The overall composition is typical of the Hadrianic virtue series struck at Rome. |
