| Obverse description | Laureate, draped bust of Hadrian facing right, rendered in three-quarter rear view, with the paludamentum visible over the left shoulder. The emperor's characteristic full beard is rendered with fine, curling detail, and the laurel wreath is clearly articulated atop his wavy hair. The encircling Latin legend runs along the beaded border. The portrait exhibits the high-relief, idealized yet individualized style characteristic of Hadrianic imperial coinage from the Roman mint. |
