Hadrian visited Judaea in 130 AD, a tour that carried enormous political weight coming just a decade after the catastrophic Jewish revolt of 115–117 and shortly before the Bar Kokhba revolt erupted in 132. The ADVENTVS series — coins commemorating imperial visits to specific provinces — was a deliberate propaganda instrument, and the Judaea issue is among the most historically charged in the group. Hadrian's inspection of the province likely included the decision to refound Jerusalem as the Roman colony Aelia Capitolina, a move widely credited as a direct trigger for the Bar Kokhba uprising.
