| Obverse description | Radiate draped bust of Nero facing right, rendered in the characteristic late Neronian portrait style with the emperor's distinctive layered hair and prominent features. The effigy is shown with a radiate crown, a standard attribute of the dupondius denomination distinguishing it from the as. The circular Latin legend surrounds the portrait, reading NERO CLAVD CAESAR AVG GER P M TR P IMP P P, distributed around the full circumference of the coin within a beaded border. The portrait exhibits the broad-faced, fleshy physiognomy typical of Nero's later coinage from the Rome mint. |
