| Obverse description | Bare-headed, laureate bust of Nero facing left, rendered with characteristic fleshy features and curly hair, with a small globe at the point of the neck truncation. The effigy is modelled in high relief with detailed treatment of the hair, beard, and facial contours typical of Neronian portraiture. The encircling Latin legend reads continuously around the periphery of the flan. The portrait exhibits the broad, rounded facial type associated with later Neronian coinage. |
