Obverse description Radiate, draped bust of Nero facing left, rendered in high relief with characteristic fleshy features, curling hair arranged in the Julio-Claudian fashion, and a pronounced neck. The radiate crown, distinguishing mark of the dupondius denomination, frames the emperor's head. The circular Latin legend runs clockwise around the periphery of the flan, reading IMP NERO CAESAR AVG P MAX TR POT P P, identifying Nero's full imperial titulature. The portrait exhibits the realistic yet idealised style typical of Neronian workshop production at Rome.
