正面描述 Bare-headed, radiate bust of Nero facing left, with full, rounded features characteristic of his later portraiture, the hair rendered in tight curls over the forehead and falling in waves behind the neck. The effigy is depicted with a draped shoulder visible at the bust truncation. The circular legend surrounds the portrait, incised in crisp Latin capitals within the field close to the rim.

附加信息

Nero introduced the SECVRITAS AVGVSTI type in the early 60s AD as a direct response to the Pisonian conspiracy of 65, broadcasting imperial security — his own, specifically — to a population well aware of the assassination plots circulating in Rome's upper classes. The orichalcum dupondius, revived and standardized under the Neronian coinage reform of 64 AD, gave these political messages unusual visual currency through their distinctive brassy color, which set them apart from the silver and bronze denominations at a glance.

RIC I 194 falls within the later phase of Nero's reformed coinage, after the mint adjusted both weight standards and module following that 64 reform.
