| Reverse description | The personification of Securitas seated right on a high-backed throne, her upper body bare to the waist, her head inclined and resting upon her raised right hand in a pose of tranquil repose. In her left hand she holds a short sceptre, while before her stands a lighted and garlanded altar upon which rests a lighted torch leaning against a bucranium. The legend SECVRITAS AVGVSTI arcs across the upper field, with S C flanking the central type and the numeral II appearing in the lower field, denoting the senatorial authority behind the issue. The composition is characteristic of the Neronian bronze coinage, with the allegorical figure rendered in a classicising Julio-Claudian style. |
