| Obverse description | Bare-necked, laureate bust of Nero facing right, rendered in the provincial style characteristic of Thessalian coinage under the Julio-Claudian emperors. The emperor's portrait displays the characteristic youthful features associated with early Neronian issues, with neatly arranged laurel wreath. The circular Greek legend surrounds the effigy, reading NEΡΩN ΘEΣΣAΛΩN, identifying the emperor as patron of the Thessalian league. |

| Reverse description | Apollo Citharoedus, depicted in long draped chiton, standing and advancing to the right while playing a kithara (lyre) held upright before him. The god is shown in a majestic, frontal-tending stance with the instrument clearly rendered in the field. The two-line Greek legend AΡIΣTIΩNOΣ ΣTΡATHΓOY appears in the field, referencing the strategos Aristion, the presiding magistrate of the Thessalian Koinon responsible for the issue. |
