Julia Titi was the daughter of Vespasian and niece of Domitian, though ancient sources — particularly Suetonius — accused Domitian of conducting an affair with her, a charge that has never been fully dismissed by modern historians. She died sometime around 91 AD, after which Domitian elevated her to divine status. This dupondius, struck under Titus between 80 and 81, predates her deification and represents her at the height of imperial favor during her father's and uncle's reigns.
RIC II.1 397 is among the scarcer types in Titus's bronze coinage for Julia.
