| Obverse description | Radiate, cuirassed bust of Hadrian facing right, depicted in three-quarter view from the front, with the rays of the radiate crown clearly rendered and the cuirass elaborately detailed. The emperor's beard, characteristic of his portraiture, is visible on the truncation. A continuous Latin legend encircles the effigy along the outer border of the flan. The portrait style reflects the early Hadrianic coinage of AD 117, retaining titulature inherited from Trajan's reign. |
