| Beschrijving keerzijde | Concordia, goddess of harmony, seated left upon a throne, holding a patera in her extended right hand and resting her left arm upon a standing figure of Spes (Hope). A cornucopia is placed beneath the throne. The composition is rendered in the formal, hieratic style characteristic of Trajanic-Hadrianic reverse types. The legend is divided across the field with the senatorial authorization mark SC (Senatus Consultum) prominently displayed in the lower field. |

Struck in 117 AD, almost certainly within weeks of Hadrian's accession following Trajan's death in August of that year. The titulature retaining PARTHICO reflects the uneasy transitional moment: Hadrian inherited Trajan's Parthian title but almost immediately abandoned the eastern conquests his predecessor had spent years securing, withdrawing Roman forces from Mesopotamia and Armenia. The pairing of Concordia with Spes on this issue reads less as celebration than as political messaging — Hadrian needed to project stability to a Senate deeply suspicious of his legitimacy and an army uncertain of his intentions.
