| Description du revers | Annona, the personification of the Roman grain supply, seated right on a throne or chair, holding or drawing out a fold of her garment filled with grain or loaves of bread. To her left, a standing attendant assists with the distribution of the grain or bread. In the background to the right, the stern of a merchant vessel is depicted, symbolising the maritime transport of grain to Rome, particularly from the provinces of Egypt and North Africa. The scene is framed by the legend arranged around the coin's periphery, with the senatorial authority mark S C prominently placed in the field. |
