Reverse description The reverse features a three-line inscription S P Q R / OB / CIV SER enclosed within a corona civica, an oak wreath tied at the base with a bow, symbolising the honour awarded to those who saved Roman citizens. The wreath is rendered with carefully detailed individual leaves arranged symmetrically around the central legend. The field within the wreath is fully occupied by the bold, well-spaced inscription. This reverse type was employed by Galba to legitimise his short reign by invoking traditional Republican values and presenting himself as a saviour of the Roman people. The overall composition is bold and emblematic, with no exergue line.
