| Reverse description | Pax personified as a draped female figure standing left, her right hand extended to hold an olive branch and her left hand grasping a cornucopiae, symbols of peace and abundance. The figure is rendered in the classical Roman allegorical style with flowing drapery indicated in fine relief. The legend PAX AVGVST appears in the field, with the senatorial authority mark S C (Senatus Consultum) prominently placed to either side of the figure, confirming the coin's authorisation by the Roman Senate. The exergue is plain. The reverse composition reflects the standard Julio-Claudian and early Flavian iconographic programme for bronze coinage. |
