| Obverse description | Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Domitian facing right, rendered in high relief in the Flavian imperial portrait style. The radiate crown, distinguishing the dupondius from the as, crowns the laureate effigy with pronounced facial features characteristic of Domitianic portraiture. The encircling legend reads IMP CAES DOMIT AVG GERM COS XVII CENS PER P P, distributed around the periphery of the flan. The field, now largely patinated in olive-brown and green, shows the characteristic irregular fabric of late Domitianic bronze coinage struck at Rome. |
