The emperor's neck is bare or lightly draped, with strong facial features and a pronounced jaw rendered in the realistic official court style. | Beschrijving keerzijde | Standing figure of Fides, the personification of Public Faith and Loyalty, depicted facing left in long flowing robes with her weight resting on one leg in a slight contrapposto stance. She holds attributes in each hand, consistent with her standard iconographic representation on Flavian coinage, likely ears of grain in one hand and a patera or basket in the other. The letters S and C (Senatus Consultum) flank the figure in the mid-field to left and right respectively, authorizing the bronze issue by decree of the Senate. The reverse legend FIDEI PVBLICAE is distributed around the periphery of the coin. The overall composition is typical of the Flavian revival of personification types intended to project political virtues of the reign. |
