| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse features the large senatorial authority mark S C (Senatus Consultum) prominently displayed in the central field, with the letters rendered in bold, deeply struck Roman capitals of considerable size. Surrounding the S C, the moneyer's legend C ASINIVS C F GALLVS IIIVIR A A A F F is arranged in a circular inscription along the periphery of the coin. The legend identifies the tresvir monetalis (mint magistrate) Gaius Asinius Gallus, son of Gaius, responsible for the striking of gold, silver, and bronze coinage. The overall design is characteristic of Augustan aes coinage issued under the authority of the Senate. |
