| Obverse description | Bare or laureate head of Augustus facing left, rendered in fine late Republican portraiture style with strong facial features and naturalistic modelling. To the right of the bust, a standing figure of Victory faces left, her wings spread, holding a wreath or palm. The encircling legend reads CAESAR AVGVST PONT MAX TRIBVNIC POT, distributed around the periphery of the flan. The reverse legend element TRIVNIC POT appears partially visible at the upper right of the obverse field. The die work is characteristic of the Roman mint under Augustus, displaying confident engraving and high relief portraiture. |
